Taiwan Trip Part 1
The one thing which I gained during my trip to Taiwan was more weight!! Ha ha. During my nine days there I ate non-stop. From the moment we stepped out of the hotel until we got back. We walked ALOT too but obviously all that walking did not help when we were eating and eating and eating all the time. The food in Taiwan is fantastic and the best food are those found at the night markets and small shops, not in restaurants. I do not know why but the bubble tea there tastes sooooooo much better than here. Considering I have had not any bubble tea for at least one year before my trip, I had three huge cups while I was there! Man, I am still dreaming about the bubble tea I had there.
The bed and breakfast I stayed at in Hualien, the owner is really nice auntie and she made fantastic ginger milk tea for breakfast. Her ginger milk tea is the yummiest I have drank to date and she is such a nice lady and her B&B is really nice that if I ever go back to Hualien, I will surely stay at her B&B! As you can see, I really enjoyed myself there! She was also the one who introduced me and my friends to roasted chicken backside! Yes, you read right! That was the most adventurous food I had in Taiwan and you know what, it tasted really good!! Yum, yum. There was so much I enjoyed about Hualien and I will definately recommend it to people as a place to visit but that shall come in another blog entry.
Sadly, I did not take pictures of all the food that I ate but I did manage to remember for some before I gobbled it all down!

The famous Ah Chung Mian Xian at Xi Men Ding. Flour noodles with pig's internal organs! I liked it so much I made my friends go back with me a second time! The really interesting thing is that its just a shop front and there are no tables and chairs for customers to sit. People just buy a bowl, add in the codiments they want (vinegar and chilli) then stand around the shop and start eating. After you are done, you leave the bowl in one of the buckets which the owner has left outside the shop. And this shop is in the hip and trendy part of Taipei!! Unbelievable but yep, its the truth!

Taiwan Rail is famous for the bian dang they sell on the trains. I ate this en-route from Taipei to Hualien. I was sitting next to my friend, Lala when she suddenly turned to me and asked me if I wanted to share a bian dang with her. Since lunch was barely 2 hours ago, I gave her a super horrified look and exclaimed, "WHAT! You are hungry already!!!???" Upon which, she became quite embarrassed and replied that she just wanted to try the bian dang!! Ha ha. The bian dang was really yummy. Everything in it was really DELICIOUS, from the rice to the pork chop, boiled egg, soya skin and vegetables. Poor Line, she slept through the train ride and did not have a chance to try the bian dang and scolded me and Lala for not waking her up!! Hee hee.

This little shop in Hualien only serves meat dumplings. One of the former President of Taiwan ate there before and its a really famous and popular shop in Hualien. The meat dumplings were really delicious. The meat was sweet and really tasty and the soup hot. This was one of the best meat dumplings I have ever tasted! There were around 10 in each bowl and quite big, not like those small ones sold in Singapore. Wish they will open a franchise in Singapore!

Our afternoon tea at the harbour in Hualien. Freshly made fish balls, freah salmon sashimi and fried bee hoon. The salmon sashimi was really cheap, only SGD 5!! Since Line do not eat raw food, Lala and I shared that box between us.

Our dinner on our second night in Haulien. Pork chop noodles, meat ball soup and boiled eggs with soya sauce. The meat ball soup was kind of disappointing but the pork chop noodles and eggs was really delicious. The pork chop was just so fragrant and fried just right. Drooooooool.

The rice dumpling I ate for lunch on our last day in Hualien. Line ate two of this coz it tasted quite food but regretted when we went to a farm after lunch. There was a cafe at the farm which sold cheese cake, yogurt and drinks. Yum yum yum! The food at the cafe was really good and Line "forced" herself to eat it. But all through out, she kept questioning her good sense as to why she ate two rice dumplings! And how if she did not, then she could have eaten more of the food at the cafe!! Ha ha.

Hua Zhi Geng at night market in Kao Shiong. Its a thick soup with squid and cuttlefish. Personally, I do not like squid and cuttlefish but this soup was really nice. I thought I will just drink one mouthful for the sake of trying then stop but ended up drinking a second, then a third and then I lost count!!
Of course there were much much more stuff I ate but here ends the pictures of the food which I ate in Taiwan.
