Greetings from somewhere in Queensland
Brrrrr, cold. Its my second day here in the town of Ipswich, Queensland, visting my brother. Couldn't get much sleep on the plane so spent most of my first day here sleeping. Its winter in Australia now, although there is no snow, and winter here feels like summer in Scotland but brrrr, it can still be rather cold. I am sharing my brother's room at the boarding house. Its a rather lovely place. The boarding house is made up of 2 houses and owned by an Australian couple. One of the houses look like its right of a fairytale! Really quaint and lovely. Have not ventured much anywhere except to Ipswich's city centre. Hoping to pay a visit to Brisbane and Gold Coast in the next few days. But feeling rather good because, I am NOT working!!! Hee hee.
Ipswich city centre is situated around a 10 minute walk from the University of Queensland's Ipswich campus. Not much shopping to be done there but it has essentials like a hospital, a big supermarket (Woolworths), a train station, a variety of food places, banks and some clothing shops. Nope, the shopaholic in me has not awaken as only Jeanswest is there. There is no sign of Quicksilver, Bloom, Sportsgirl or Country Road etc. That will have to wait till my trip to Brisbane which is around an hour's train ride from Ipswich city centre.
Spent half a day milling around Ipswich's city centre with my parents and brother this afternoon. It was so nice to be able wake up without the alarm clock shrilling in my ears this morning. Since there was nothing to buy, I ended up buying lunch for my family. Ok, we had Subway but hey, its the thought that counts hor.
Go to go now, more updates later.
