Zoo Trip
Once a year, the firm that I work in will close for a day and all employees have to perform community service. This year is no different. My unit entertained kids with disabilities at the zoo on friday. It was quite an interesting experience but very tiring.
Upon reaching the zoo, seeing that the kids have not yet arrived and Ben & Jerry's was just round the corner, a few of us headed there to get our ice cream fix! Yummy, New York Super Brownie! As the greedy few were busy enjoying their ice cream, the kids arrived. Oops, we had to eat up our dripping cones in super quick time!
We were paired up and each pair was assigned a kid.The little boy of around 10 was excited about his trip to the zoo and wanted to see everything. It was super exhausting running after the little boy and keeping him entertained. It was my first trip to the zoo in donkey years and well, the zoo still stinks and looks the same. I suppose after so many trips to the zoo as a kid, I have pretty much seen all the animals. I still get the creeps when I visit the reptile enclosure but the little boy insisted on spending time there. Sigh, so in I followed and I tried very hard to focus elsewhere besides the reptiles. Eeeks!
Anyway, I brought along my digital camera and here are photos of some of the animals I saw that day......
After a really yucky lunch, quoting what one colleague said "The packed lunch provided was plain horrible. You can feed it to the monkeys but its very likely that they'll throw it back at you!", I was really glad I had indulged in the ice cream earlier. The excursion was for around 4 hours and the kids went home. My legs were super sore by then and I was sure I did not smell too good either. But I had no time to go home and change before meeting Vantan and Monoceros for dinner and a movie later.
