Roma Street Parkland

When I read about the park in the heart of Brisbane city, I decided I had to take a look. The brochure promised so much, tropical rainforest, fern gully, Spectacle Garden, lake precinct etc. The Roma Street Parkland was really lovely but it was alot smaller than I expected to be. I had thought I would spend around 2 hours walking there but it took a surprising short one hour for a turn around the park. Actually, it reminded me of the Singapore Botanical Gardens.

My favourite parts of the park was the lake precinct and the spectacle garden. The lake precinct was really lovely with its huge water mass and mandarin ducks. If I had the time, I would have been perfectly happy to sit there reading a book on one of the benches provided and stare out at the lake whenever my eyes needed a break. The Spectacle Garden was full of colours and different types of flowers which I had no clue to their names. But a walk through the gardens will definately put you in a good mood because of all the pretty flowers there! I felt like a character in one of Jane Austen's novels as I was strolling in the Spectacle Garden, unfortunately there was no Mr Darcy around! Ha ha.

Anyway, there were expensive looking apartments overlooking the lake from across a wide field. Those apartments must be really really really expensive, but to wake up each morning to that fantastic view and having such a lovely park right at your doorstep, I suppose its worth every cent. Oh and did I forget to mention that its at Roma Street, which is one train stop away from Brisbane Central. If I had the dough, I seriously would buy an apartment there. But since I do not have the means, I could only comfort myself with taking photos with my digital camera.

And finally......... drum roll please............this is one of the views of the park if you have an apartment from across it. This was taken from one the lookouts that look across the field to the apartments.
